Holiday 1997
Excitement -- Joy -- Celebration. In this season there is pleasure, and pain; we anticipate,
plan and prepare. Long enduring
relationships among family and friends come together with personal greetings.
A roaring blaze in the hearth, as well as the human heart, warms our
hopes, rekindles our spirit. Among
the reindeer and decorations, in the maddening rush, there is surprise: how
fortunate we are, in these good times. Abundance
and thanksgiving; gratitude for laughter, for family, for colleagues, for the
challenges, for the thrill of daily life. We
revel in the holidays.
Beauty personifies the season. Music plays, and we hum old tunes. Decorations ring out generosity of spirit to all.
In times of intense competition, this is a time for cooperation.
While we live in a vortex of information, quick decisions, and extra
human stress, this moment allows for calm, peace and joy.
Children embody this season like no other.
Their screams of delight, their sense of amazement, their unmitigated
comprehension of the holidays as bounteous, delectable, enchanted.
Almost enough to urge grown ups to relax and join the program.
However, there is a seeming embarrassment of riches that
greets us. An uncomfortable
tingling that reminds us that there are others, less able to embrace this season
with the same gusto, vigor and enthusiasm.
Remembering the poor, the sick, the homeless and the imprisoned captures
the spirit of the season. For these
days of feasting and giving are most pleasant when the needs of all humankind
are met/
Throughout the season and in New Year, we wish you peace,
prosperity and a generous heart,
